Who is a Mother?

To us who are in Christ, motherhood is understood according to the mind of Christ. It is not limited to a woman bringing forth children in the world. If God uses the image of to motherhood speak of raising Men unto the fullness of the stature of Christ.motherhood is something we should understand according to the mind of Christ

As the new creation in Christ Jesus, there are so many things that we must conceive. Unfortunately, the Church of Christ has been delayed because women are barren. They experience barrenness in their spiritual life, in the professional world, in their life within the Church and even in their ministry (yes, every believer is a minister). This leads us to ask this fundamental question: what does it mean to be a mother?

To us who are in Christ, who live in the New Testament, motherhood is something we should understand according to the mind of Christ.

“My little children of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you”
Galatians 4: 19

In this passage, Paul the Apostle uses the allegory of motherhood to speak of his apostolic ministry. This teaches us therefore that motherhood is not limited to a woman bringing forth children in the world. If God uses the image of motherhood to speak of raising Men unto the fullness of the stature of Christ, then it implies that there is much more to the image of motherhood in the mind of God than we can realize.

When Man was placed on earth by God, the word of God declares in Genesis 2 that Adam was called in Hebrew “Ish” which refers to man; but in him was woman. God then brought woman out of the side of man and He built her, giving her the womb. When He built the woman, the first name given to her was “Isha”, because when Adam saw the woman, he said “This is the man with the womb”.

Motherhood thus speaks of the function of something known as the womb. Children are usually referred to as the fruits of the womb, but that is not all that there is to know about the womb. In fact, Paul tells us in the book of Galatians chapter 4 that Jerusalem which is above is our Mother, referring to the Church. The Church being our Mother teaches us that God’s understanding of motherhood is not just about a woman giving birth to children. In the old covenant, God always referred to the blessing as the fruit of the womb. So the womb is the organ of incubation that conceives a seed and produces God’s intention.

A mother is neither just that a person that has borne children nor somebody that can dress in a particular way. A mother is a person who has to produce something in her life, who has to conceive or to bear something. For the glorious Church to emerge, there is something that has to come out of your life. There are certain things that you carry without being aware of them.

The believer in Christ Jesus has already received the incorruptible seed of God, but when it comes to the understanding of the New Testament images and analogies, the term “conception” which relates to the womb always speaks of the soulish realm of salvation. We are not referring to Christ dwelling in us, but we are talking about experiencing Christ as our life in our souls, which implies a transformation of being. Motherhood is about becoming the personal expression of Christ for all men to see and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
